My cat's a genius

Thank you very much for that. Very useful information and presented with clarity.

Is the NZ 85 frame 5100 steel like the 1911?

It is often said that Norinco's suffer in the fit and finish category. Finish is something I can fix with a bit of elbow grease and experience. Fit is more challenging. Did you find any clearances excessive on the 1911 or the 85? Did you tighten anything up?

Both the NZ85 and 1911 were nice and tight to begin with. And both pistols feature the same extremely strong steel.

And yes they do suffer in terms of fit and finish. But in terms of materials, they are quality pistols.

Fluffy wants me to post yet another picture.

The gun talk is good, the cat talk is freaky. Strange folks on CGN.

The cat is a literary device that provides the thread with a few things. Contrast, Interest, Transference, It provides the author with unbelievable deniability and humility since he is just reporting the facts and the cat takes any credit/blame.

Look up foil (literature) for more information.

did you post your mods for the Norinco NZ85? I dont see it.

Interesting read in post 78

1. All the sharp edges were removed from the pistol.

2. The slide and frame were lapped

3. The trigger parts were carefully tuned and all springs were replaced with CZ springs;

4. The pistol was carefully inspected for any MiM or other inferior parts;

5. The grip screws were replaced

6. The safety levers and slide stop were reblued after they were deburred.

7. The pistol was sandblasted and parkerized.

8. The pistol was bathed in a solution of acetone, cosmolene and fish oil. (This creates the slightly green tint that you see)

Well, that was so nice I had to read it twice. Could you post a pic of the NZ85 from the rear? Some damn fine looking grips on that baby. Lucky cat.
