Merry Christmas everybody!

I just thought I would post a pic of my newest toy, and first black rifle (but it's not black). I'm a bolt gun guy but I thought I had to see what everybody was going on about.

She's kind of ugly, not much for pretty wood but what a riot to shoot! Remigton R-15 with burris 2-7x35. Scope is in a terrible set of see through mounts right now, but I'm looking for a better mount. They were all I could find on short notice. I didn't realize how much height you need for a flattop. Any suggestions?

+2 for the ADM Recon mount.
Irons sit 1.5" above the butt stock, so getting the centerline of the scope to that height will likely be the most comfortable.

Careful where you put that thing down! I had a camo pen once, set it aside for moment never to be found again... ;)

To bad they can't be taken to the bush as intended. :(

Thanks for the comments and tips guys. I sure would hate to loose it in the weeds :p but that shouldn't be a problem since it's not aloud off the range. I will have to appoint myself chief gopher exterminator at our range.... that should take about an hour!

enjoy your new toy and welcome to the ar club. never spent any time with the remington but hear great things about it. and yes we should be able to use these rifles as they were meant to be used. really at the end of the day is there any differance between that and a mini-14? both auto loaders in .223rem

Kimberman, nice flat top, thinking of something similar myself.

Mini 14 (Target) is unrestricted, costs new ~$1,000 (on sale at Lake Huron for $995, regular $1,100 at WSS), can accessorize as easily and just as accurate - but a very different action (Garand) and ergonomics. My target version is my black rifle substitute till figure out exactly which platform I want.

Well for one thing ARs can actually hit the broad side of a barn.
There are people who shoot them with different results - see http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=418993
