Started the project early this year, initially as a M4 MWS clone, later evolved into a "keep it simple" carbine with the exception of the Knight's RAS.

- LMT 14.5" carbine upper.
- LMT carbine lower with standard trigger, replaced the factory Ergo grip with a Colt A2 pistol grip and substituted LMT's 6-position receiver extension with a Colt 4-pos. tube and CAR stock.
- Colt carry handle.
- Colt charging handle and M16 BCG.
- KAC M4 RAS.
- Colt side sling swivel adapter.
- Colt factory sling.

Staked the castle nut at two points (though nothing will beat LMT's stake-job, took me at least 30 minutes of pounding to get their castle nut loose):

The upper has a Cardinal forge mark, the Colt carry handle is a Cerro forging:

"N"-marked Colt CAR stock, prefer it to the later M4 style:

Chrome, 1:7 twist bore:

Replaced the LMT carbine buffer with a heavier Colt H1 type, also noticed that Colt's action spring was almost an inch longer than the factory LMT:

Colt "C" marked M16 carrier:

Colt Canada/Diemaco MP-tested bolt:

Now who's got 62 gr.?

Very nice KISS gun. Those have got to be amongst the clearest forge marks and pics I have seen. Nice score of the CC bolt too!

Not to be a #### but why on earth dump the 6 pos'n stock?
I shoot in body armour all the way in -- but w/o I find the 4 pos'n limiting.

Beautiful pics BTW

Thanks, and I completely agree, the LMT tube is the better choice, but I bought the entire Colt stock assembly together and in keeping with the M4 theme chose to replace LMT's tube (which has a lighter grey finish BTW). Besides I shoot with it fully extended so I'd never really use the intermediate positions. Cheers.

Sweet rifle,

Who carries the Colt side sling swivel adapters in Canada???

Brownells, and they ship non-critical parts under $100 to Canada without any permits.

We've got a pile of CMT/Stag Side Sling Swivels in stock, 33005 stamped on the side, seem the same?

That's one clean gun! :)

Looks very nice. I'm still not sure why you just didn't swap stocks instead of putting yourself through all that extra work. (A light touch with a drill, or dremel to the staking would have made it way easier) Since you did go to all of that trouble than I would have used the earlier style castle nut, but that's a personal preference thing, looks cleaner.

I like the carry handle, best of both worlds. Very simple, looks kinda retro, and you can always add optics if you really want to. Of course, if you really want to go KISS you could swap out the upper for an A1 or C7 style.

Get yourself a decent carry sling, for KISS I'd use a Vickers.

Oh yeah! Thanks for the Ergo grip, very comfy.

Nice gun.

Quick question however. In the third picture the lower and upper look totally different colors. The bottom one is a light gray and the top is a deep black however both of them are LMT? My Eagle/Bushmaster are slightly off but not as much as those. Maybe its just the camera.

They're both LMT but the lower has a lighter anodizing layer and not nearly as much CLP on it as the upper. It doesn't bother me at all.
