Some years back I inherited my Dad's Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 12 ga.

I wrote about it on my blog a while back, and being new to the forum I'd like to share its story here. It's a great shotgun, but due to Dad's alterations, just couldn't make it work for me. So I finally decided the best way to honor it was to make it new again, something I could use, and one day pass down the line.

It's always a big question as to whether or not one should ever mess with a heirloom or older rifle/shotgun.

I think this time I made the right decision.

Thanks!

Was a bit of a tough one to make, sentimentality set in, eh?

Set me back about $650 in all. But really happy with fit and appearance.

They are a great shotgun, too, with a long history.

Hell, I like your sense of style!
My rather drab parkerized DSPS with it's unwooden Choate stock, is a real performer with Brenneke Classic slugs. That's why I keep it.

But your deep blueing & nice wood, go hand in hand, very well indeed.
