My dumb question about takedown soft cases

I've never owned a takedown case before and I was looking at a Boyd's soft case for an O/U of mine and my question is...
Where does the forend go; is it supposed to remain attached to the barrels?

Yes the forend snaps back on the barrels for any takedown case I have seen .

I have 3 Boyt takedown cases ... very well made & rugged.
One sees pretty constant service and after about 20 years is still going strong.
The longer version will accept 32" O/U barrels.

I snap the fore end back on all my doubles when I have them in soft cases

I use a couple of BOYT canvas takedowns......the product will certainly withstand rugged use over time. However, I don't much like the brass zipper as it is considerably sharp and may cause some grief if one is not always careful while placing/removing the firearm.
