CyberK sent me this to T&E as a scope he might bring in.

here are the Specs
2.5/10x50
Length - 330mm
Weight - 660g
FOV @ 100 yards - 11 feet (10x)
1/4 MOA clicks
80 MOA Total
30mm tube

Pro's

great glass!better then the Merlin,:)
the Side focus is as good as my NightForce:cool:
Clicks are crisp and repeteable
Not to heavy
Eye relief is awesome just look at how far forward its mount on my AR!!I would guess its around 4":dancingbanana:
Mildot's are Bang on!
Knobs are like the B&L Tactical easy to grab and turn

Con's
at 12MOA per turn it could make the Math harder to get on too
I would have liked to see 15 or 20 MOA per turn ,much faster
I would have liked there MP20 reticle in this scope:rockOn:

Not knowning what theses scope are worth I would not be shocked if it was in the $700 range!!it really is a great scope!

now to see how long I can keep it before Mike wants it back!!:D

Jamie

The one on the Frankengun is a Merlin 10-42T with MP20. Glad you like it Jamie. The eye relief and clarity are what made me really like it. Would be a really good varmint getter!!!

The price on these will be $484.99. They are 100 more than the Merlin 10x42T, but you are getting the variable magnification, improved turrets and much superior glass. Unfortunately, I only got three of them and I might want to keep one!!!

Wow! looks pretty good - out of curiosity, have you tried them in low-light conditions? How bright are they at dawn/dusk?

I just mounted it today..I will try to get it out later for a lower light test!

Where is this model listed on the Falcon web site? I honestly do not see it there.

This model is not listed on the Falcon website. They made a bunch for a European contract and have some left over. We bought a few to test them out and see the response on them. If they are well received Falcon will run another batch of them.

Jamie, given that you have tested this one out, would you buy one for use on either an AR or a .308?

Yes!! no worries it is a real nice scope I just might have to buy this one;)

Any side by side comparisons with similar and higher priced optics?

Hey Jamie or CyberK, is that mildot reticle the same as is on the Merlin version of the Falcon scopes (variable power and the fixed 10x)? The "skeleton mildot", is it any different? I seem to believe that the four posts are hollow....just outlines, on the skeleton merlin version?

just next to my NightForce and Leupold Mark 4 (3/9)

the Falcon 2.5/10 is as bright as my Mark4 and the side focus is as good as the focus on my NightForce;)

the Mildots are soild round not the football,I would rather have the MP20 in this scope:cool: I really like the MP20:dancingbanana:

It certainly sounds interesting. I'd be interested in getting one. It's good to see some good quality, yet affordable scopes coming out for those of us that can't afford the really high end stuff.

I just got my Falcon today, it is definately a step up from the merlin. I agree with everything that Jamie has said about it, although I haven't mounted it yet. Parallax is smooth, turret adjustments are very positive with excellent knobs, optics are crisp and the eye relief is unreal. Looking forward to some shooting with this beauty. Thanks again Mike.

I just picked up mine at the post office today. I'm by no means an optics expert since my experience is pretty much limited to the Elcan, but I decided to jump on this scope while they're available. Here's a couple of quick observations.

Turrets are very easy to grasp with or without gloves and the clicks are nice and distinct, as well as audible. A nice touch is the fact that it has the direction engraved at the base of the turrets to minimize any "brain farts" that you might have while adjusting.

Turret caps can be adjusted with an allen wrench, IMHO a much better option than flathead or phillips, (f$*@ing americans and their phillips, everyone knows that Robertson would kick Phillips ass) it would have been nice if a wrench had been provided.

12 MOA per revolution doesn't really bother me since this is basically 1 ft at 100m.

Rubber ring around the eyepiece is a nice touch but the eye relief is so large that it will never be needed.

Fit and finish all appear to be top notch.

Noticed that all of Falcon's other scopes come with 2x sunshade, flip caps and lens cloth, unfortunately this model comes with none of those niceties.

I believe that I'm going to like this scope, about the only thing that I'd change would be to offer it with the MP20 reticle. Using that reticle you wouldn't even have to adjust your scope for the longer ranges if you didn't want to. Hopefully Falcon decides to do another run of these and keeps it at 2.5-10x for those of us looking for a more practical optic. Illumination as an option might be a nice touch.

I don't have a scope to put this rifle on yet, but when I do, it will be my "do it all" rifle. Money is getting tighter and tighter these days so I have to do more with less. This scope + a 20" heavy barrel (SPS Tactical) will make a very practical hunting and long range competition combo.

ETA: It would be nice if an optics guru could compare this scope with comparable models from other manufacturers, i.e. Leupold Mk4, Nightforce (do they have a scope this small) etc...
