Here are some of my favorite finnish rifles in my modest collection of mosins. I just received a 1930 tikka m27 so i decided to take a few pictures.

On top is a 1941 sako made m39 in a war time sako stock, actually the first mosin in my collection. I had no idea what a m39 was at the time, needless to say i am glad i snagged it.

The second rifle down is a 1941 vkt on a grease hole receiver. I think its a ex sov sniper rifle as it has filled in holes for the sov mount, not visible on the inside which is correct for sov snipers. Russian pe production started much later than grease hole receivers and its unlikely the russians would use a 35 year old receiver to build a PE when they had new production receivers on hand. Purchased as just a action no stock. This rifle was discussed on gunboards.

3rd rifle down is a 1930 tikka m27 with matching bolt. It has the correct wings on the bolt which are unique to the m27. It is in a correct m27 stock and was modified by a arsenal as it has the "Popsicle" front band. Recently acquired for a fellow gun nut.

4th rifle down ( last but not least) a sig m28 i purchased off a very active member on the forum.

Please feel free to share your finnish made rifles!

Makes me wonder why I don't collect Finnish rifles!

Thanks for sharing.I'm glad to see that you restored the 1941.

They are decently hard to come by but i think its worth the search.
It took me awhile to find a stock for the 41, i am still looking for a m27 stock for another project i have kicking around.

I don't know much about the Finnish moslin, do they sell for much more or less than Russians? (Obviously depending on condition) I bought one that the seller told me was Russian and it's just not turning my crank.

send me some pics, maybe it will yank my crank

Some are (Finn capture M91, M91/30, debatably Finn made M91s). Some are totally rebuilt into new models (M24, M27, M28, M28/30, M39). The OP's photo is all distinctly Finnish models.

Aren't Finnish Mosins just Russian Mosins that have been refurbished?

That's about as wide a generalization as I've seen concerning Finn Mosins. You're right though all of the receivers and many components in those rifles are of Russian and other manufacturers origins. The difference though is usually noticeable. I recently sold a Finn marked 91/30 that was sans finger joints and the only way to tell it was Finn was the little square with SA inside stamped over the chamber on the left side. Nothing else was touched as far as I could tell.

Some of the M91 rifles and M91/30 rifles used by Finland were either just re-issued capture rifles, or were rebuilt into serviceable guns by the Finns using bits of several damaged rifles. There were a VERY small number of Russian 1907 carbines and M38 carbines that they re-issed after marking them with a property stamp also. I've never seen a legit Finn M44, but they could exist (?) as some were in service in 1943.

This is NOT the majority of Finn rifles however...

The Finns always used salvaged Russian (or American) made Mosin receivers and bolt bodies, but that is where the similarities end. The Finns made their own M91's with new wood, new barrels, new bolt parts mixed in with recycled russian parts, re-worked or new-made interruptors, triggers, sears, extractors, bolt heads, etc.

They also made entirely new pattern rifles that no other countries produced, again based around salvaged receivers and bolt bodies. Examples include:
-M24 rifles
-M27 rifles
-M27RV rifles
-M28 rifles
-M28/30 rifles
-M39 Rifles

They also made several unique versions of mosin snipers such as the M28-76 rifle and the Tkiv 85 sniper rifle.

The only parts that are ALWAYS Russian (or American) made are the stripped receiver and the stripped bolt body. At various times, Finland made every other part new when required. They also refurbished and re-used lots of Russian and American small parts if they were still serviceable.
