Yesterday was the day - my first AR build was finally finished with its custom Cerakote finish from Frank at CerakoteBC. After I went to pick it up, Frank took me to his range so we could put it through its first paces. He also gave me some tips on better pistol techniques - he was an instructor and competitor for many years. Frank is truly a gentleman and a class act in this industry (and also a CGN sponsor, so look him up).

Cerakote colours are Sniper Green and Graphite black. A larger scope is in the near future, as the build was intended for long distance shooting due to my range having a no-rapid-fire rule. A new trigger will be sometime down the road as well.

Build is as follows:

Dlask custom CCFR lower with custom serial number
Dlask 20" 5.56 chrome lined barrel
Dlask buffer tube kit
Dlask bolt carrier group
Phase 5 upper
Phase 5 Fatman muzzle break
Strike Industries red charge handle
Generic True North Arms lower kit, gas tube, 17" M-Lok hand rail, low profile gas block (which turns out is not to spec and needs replacing), and skeletonized buttstock.
Magpul BAD bolt release

Nice. I have that same handguard coming in for my pending SLR build. Is that the 17" version? What's your barrel length? I ordered an 18.6" dimpled barrel from SJ, and I'm just wondering out it will look with the 17" handguard. Logically it will have 1.6" (minus the thread for the brake) hanging out, but it would be nice to see an example. I was debating going with the 15", but the shorter versions didn't come with the pentagon cutouts. Damn chinese parts, haha.

Anyways, looks awesome!

Edit: I'm retarded. You stated that it's a 20" barrel. Does the fatman brake cover any of the barrel...? Seems like a lot less than 3" extending past the front of the handguard.

Also, did the low pro gas block fit ok in the handguard?

Thanks for the compliments, gents.

Yes, it is the 17" handguard with the 20" Dlask barrel. The brake does indeed countersink back onto the barrel and will work on a bull barrel if need be. The low profile gas block fit fine under the handguard but the gas port was out 5 thou and wasn't allowing enough gas through to eject a round, so a Dlask gas block is going on.

Cool. I'll be pillaging my Lantac Dragon off of my M&P when I build my SLR, and it just stops at the crush washer/shoulder. I'm hoping to still be able to see a bit of the barrel in front of the handguard. The barrel also comes with a fitted low pro gas block. Good to know it should fit under the handguard. The slim free floater I put on my M&P was so slim, I really had to "convince" the gas block to fit, haha.

Who did the CCFR/Custom Canuck safety selector engraving for you? Or did it come that was from Dlask? I like it :)

The Dlask custom lowers were a special run that the CCFR organized to have manufactured for FOs. If you want to see some of that dimpled barrel with the 17" handguard and an 18.6" barrel, then the FatMan brake would cover up most of the exposed barrel.
