My first AR is on its way

I am looking at getting an AR from them myself... You think getting the flat top (with the flip sights, etc...) would be better off than the one with the carry handle? Knowing I will end up getting a scope / optic of sorts eventually...
Yea... speaking with some of my friends that do shooting... Most specifically for the US Army SF's hes told me that backup sights are a must have... but then again I wont be having people shoot back at me... I hope... So the backup sight's probably arn't a must really.

Having backups is nice, but not required.
Think about it - how many guys with hunting rifles have 'back up irons' that are usable in an 'emergency'? Most would at least needs to unmount the scope to use them, and most big game hunting scenarios would be more 'dangerous' than range use.
I had/have BUIS on my ARs, but they are more for aesthetics at this point than use. They work, and are zeroed, but if my primary optic goes down, I just change the battery.

I just got myne 2 weeks ago, Armalite M-15 A2, LE edition, M4 barrel 16", collapsable stock, bayonet lug, factory new with OD green furnature......
Was funny as hell, i was going to the range with my buddy to use his Rem700 and i was just about to leave the house when the wife goes and answers the door, "I have a parcel here for skinnadoor...." I look at my buddy, (The Tool Has Arrived) lol...... So we take it in and lay the case down on the couch and rip the packaging away... and it's just a black case... i cut the security tag, and open the case.....
My buddy starts laughingwith Aww when i opened up the case.... What a piece kit !!!!!! There's nothing like getting a factory new, test fired rifle......was immaculate....... in every way.
Needless to say, i put her in the gun vice, on my pc desk that night and had a few beer down range.... admiring her and chatting on my messenger... was truly a great day........ The wife calls it "Rifle Bonding Time"
