So after years of saying I didn't need/want an AR I suddenly had a change of heart, not just that I wanted one but that I had to build it myself.

It all started with the killer deal on a stripped NEA lower from SFRC then watching for sales & deals everywhere.
-NEA lower, upper, bcg and fore end from SFRC
-S&J Hardware 11.5" barrel, low pro gas block, gas tube, charging handle and nano linear comp from S&J
-Tactical Intent TI-7 stock & DPMS buffer assembly from One Shot Tactical
-RRA lpk from Questar
-Samson fixed sights from the Shooting Edge
-Hi Viz front sight post from Hi Viz
-BCM gunfighter mod 1 grip from Brownells
It was a fun learning experience & a great way to learn about the platform.
A special thanks goes out to Hungry, AKA tactical Teacher. while I have never done any AR stuff with him, I have taken a couple of courses & clinics with
him & that had a lot to do with building my diy gunsmithing confidence.
Hungry is the man.
Cheers All!

Total cost was just around $1250. Not super cheap, but set up how I wanted. Next step is either buy a norc as a companion or build a .300 upper. Lol I think I caught the ar bug.

Great looking gun. Once you get bite by the ar bug you will have a few more withing the year! Have fun with it.

Nice piece of kit. What's the OAL? I want to build one in the near future and I want it short.

Welcome to the addiction. Hmmm NEA? Yer #### will fall off ! :D ha ha ha ha ha
My #### is still here... Hey, wait, I transferred that prize NEA gun (05 Oct CQB match 6 with 100 entries so far) to a CQB Match Staffer. yup, my #### is safe! ha ha ha ha I'm just messin' with all of you NEA dudes.

I do admit that I have a 9" NEA Quadrail on my S&J 11.5" build/upper with RRA ordered from Questar (Thanks, Scott B). I just happen to like their quadrails and how they come together so nicely. No cheese graters on the sides since I don't need them anyways. Less weight since I'm not a tough guy with big arms like some of you tuff guyz... I'm a wuss as my students call me. :ninja:

Nice build, elcap. Keep having fun with this hobby!

Cheers and keep helping the newbies.

Barney

Just about finished my NEA as well! Just need to find a buffer tube kit.

Went with the 14.5 inch barrel though. Kinda second guessing myself, I do like the looks of the builds with the 10.5 inch barrels.

Looks good, what price range were you in when it was all done including shipping? How long did it take you to build? Anything you wish you would have done different? I am considering building an AR in the new year also.

Really nice! Just finished building my first AR as well, great experience!

Quick question for you : How do you like the HiViz front sight? I've always liked fiber optics sights, thinking of putting one on my rifle.

Thanks, enjoy your new AR!

buckaroo; thanks brother keep me posted on any upcoming training & good times in your neck of the woods next year. You're a good man & gracious host.
barney; you're the man! thanks for being such a strong supporter of the community & excellent mentor. good news, #### still firmly in place.
hyuk hyuk, firmly... I kill me. I always remember your advice about encouraging new folks into the sport.
matty; call it $1250-1300 all in including tools. went fast, as soon as parts showed up it went together. biggest delay was the tool kit for attaching the barrel & stuff.
let me get a gang of rounds down range before I second guess myself, but right now its pretty much what I had in mind. lots of good folks in this community who give great advice.
crouton; I got my buffer assembly from One Shot Tactical.
