What is the better of the 3 for my first black rifle? Any comments and other suggestions would be appreciated too....I think the G96 looks really cool and reminds me of the Stoner but a bit too expensive maybe. The 180B looks too much like a cheap knockoff of the M16 system. Just my 2 bits in.......

1) AR15/ M16
2) RobArms G96
3) Armalite 180B

Thanks

If I had to choose any of those and price wasn't a factor I'd still take an AR15, although that is really the only rifle (C7 rather) that I've had any experience with. But judging by their popularity I think you can safely say you'd have a lot of fun with her.

I really like the M96 for what it is and for what it is not. One day I will own one. But that being said, do yourself a favor and buy an AR15 from one of the fine dealers that advertise here and support this board! They seem to be in supply and are very reasonably priced it seems!:)

I will withhold comment on the AR180B.:p

Nothin' wrong with the AR 180B. It was my first "Real" black rifle and I love it to death. I probably would have chosen the AR15 over it, but being restricted is a real turn off to me.

Simple, The 180b is junk. The M96 is overpriced. Stick to an AR. (just my humble opinion) If you have a serious aversion to shooting at a range, for whatever reason, suck it up and cough up the coin for a Sig Classic green/black/blue (again overpriced -but if you're going to take it in the rectum, you might as well end up with one of the best rifles out there)

If non-restricted vs. restricted is not a factor, get an AR15. Ha, bet you guys didn't see that coming!

And yes, the AR180B is a cheap knock off of the AR15, sort of. The origonal AR18 was designed to compete with the AR15 but made easier (cheaper) to manufacture, hence the sheet metal parts. I still prefer the gas piston design over the AR15 ####-where-you-eat operating system.

Wolverine Supplies, ArmsEast, Dlask, The Shooting Edge, to name a few. Also, the exhange forum is great for finding ar15's.

You will never regret getting an AR, and besides it is the black rifle that EVERYONE needs to get at some stage.

It is an extremely versatile in terms of what you can add to it. Spares are very easy to come by, and there are plenty of people who know just about everything about them so you will always be able to get parts / technical help.

ArmsEast Stag??

What makes the ArmEast Stag system good? Is it better than a colt? What is the best AR15 system if buying from a factory? eg) Colt, Armseast, Armalite, etc...

Is the Stag rifle similar to a C7 because its made here in Canada?

M16 or M4 style?

Thanks

As far as I know Stag isn't made in Canada (might be wrong). There's really nothing special about them, they are your standard AR15 rifle. The thing that sets them apart is you can get a left handed version.

Stag's are Made in the States by a huge Arm's Manufacture and sold under the stag name. Quality is said to be on Par with anything out there since they are a military manufacturer. I haven't played with one but Hear good things.

Arms east looks to be the Sole supplier in Canada with Dealers across Canada supporting them. The Price is right and the Quality is good. These arn't back woods home made rifles. 100% Quality.

</end sales rant> Lol
