Well here is my budget 6br. So now the question is since I used a barrel designed for 6ppc (1 in 12 twist, and got it cheap) I am limited to lighter bullets. I have some 58gr v-max that are showing promise with 8208xbr and I have some 68gr Berger's. With the Berger's I can reach the lands, should I jump or jam? I tried some 90gr sierra FMJ just for fun but could not stabilize. Thats all I have on hand for bullets and have 10x, 15, h4895, and 8208 for slower powders as I shoot a 204. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chad

I run what I call a 6BR Light. It has a 1-13.5" twist. It loves 70 gr Sierra MK. I run a CCI br primer, 34.0 grs of Varget and just a touch of jam. Velocities are 3400 fps and it shoots very well. Now to get that much Varget in you will have to use a drop tube. This is my medium range gopher rifle. Have fun and keep experimenting, Don.

I have a 6br with a 1 in 13" barrel and have had good luck with bergers, 60 to 69 gr. Currently using 33.9 gr Varget with CCI 450 primers. Haven't run them through the chrono yet, but they should be around 3400. A few weeks ago I did a test with the 69's - touching the lands, 10 thou jump and 10 thou jam. Honestly, they all shot fairly well (damn 6br's), but the best was touching the lands (this was only at 100 yards).
Since Varget has worked so well for me, I haven't really used any other powder - picked up some R15, just haven't got around to really trying it yet.

I'm a few hours north of you. I get my groceries in Meadow. It's too bad that little hunting store closed down.

How wide is the forarm on that stock?

I have a similar stock on a 6mmBR. You have a better forarm tho, mine is only 2.25 for hunter class BR.

How often do you guys clean the 6br, I heard that the comp shooters every 10 to 20 rounds. For fun accuracy .2-.3 with maybe the odd .1 if possible is every 100 rounds good enough?

You should be getting one ragged hole with your rig check your bedding make sure the bases and rings are tight .
Those 68gr bullets should work good with a 12 twist seat your bullets in the lands and try it again on a calm day.

I forgot to mention is it a no turn neck or a fitted neck make sure things are not to tight you should have at least .002" clearance here.
Measure the neck thickness with a bullet seated to get a good measurement.
