Hi guys and gals. For those old X soldiers who long for the feel of the old FnC1 banging away, try the Calgary Shooting Centre. I was in Calgary last week on business and have been eyeing the FAL on their site. When I first got into town, I called and asked about it. The guy said that it was down for repairs. Crap! as it turns out, the range was less than 200 yards from my motel. Now there is dumb ass luck for you. I just happened to spot it walking to a restaraunt. I went in and right away saw the FN in the rack. And ready to go.
I bought 60 rounds and me and my friend blasted off 40 of them right smartly. Then,,, the firing pin broke. And not a replacement to be had.
In my career as an armourer, I can count on one hand the number of broken firing pins I have pulled form FNs. Jeeze. Anyway, the rounds I did get off were more fun than anything I have fired for ages. It felt just right and fit as though I had carried it all my life. Well worth every bit.
The guys at the Shooting Cntr were great. A range officer named Jamie babysat us the whole time and put up with my jabbering :) Oh, and the mag on the FN holds ALL of the rounds. Not that dinky ass 5 round crap. That makes it even more fun.

I shot that gun there about 6 months back. It worked flawlessly for me. It was a pleasure to shoot that's for sure.

Sadly I'll likely never get to own one unless I get a dewatt.

Don't know them exactly but they've probably got a prohib license for the business which is the place of storage, and have a range in the same building, so the CFO can't stop them.

was it an actual C1?

No. I am not sure were this one was from. It wasn't Canadian and the range guy didn't know either. I didn't get a chance to go over it like I would have liked to. It had plastic furniture as the wood stuff had come apart years ago. It felt right despite that.

Thanks for the kind words. We have a few FNs here, one is an Ishapore, one British and one Australian. The current range gun is half British and half Australian. We are always looking for parts to keep them going, as they are pretty popular.

I have exactly 2 x 22lr kits, both Canadian.
