Hey fellas I was out originally planned to camp up high elevation, around 1700m on sum semi alpine tops, possibly man made many years ago.

as I got up there the weather looked to take a turn shortly so I thought I would drive back down lower an hunt the foot hills of this main range I was on.
thunder lightning an rain had began, later hail!

I hadn't seen any sambar all day an had been driving around 4 hours in the bush, pulling up at glassing spots looking to find a suitable hunting area for the next morning.

so I thought back to plan B an that's when I headed down, before the rains hit hard.

toward the base of the hill and nearing the main logging tracks I thought I would sneak up a nice looking gulley before dark.

Happened to be my Lucky day, as this old Sow was rooting her way toward me in a clearing, I had to take a double look before flicking off the Safety on the Remington 270, Click Boom and a 130gr TTSX hit her centre shoulder and she fell over an kicked twice. DED.

In all my years I hadn't seen a live pig, only 1 hung on a post many years ago in this rough area... Im Wrapped. A Pig in Sambar Country.

elevation maybe around 800m

Cheers

Yes, mange and crawling in Ticks.

Mange and Ticks...is that common there. Big brute.

Worst i recall along this line was shooting a Beaver that were damning up the culvert and causing the road to flood out. Crawling with fleas, so i put it in a big garbage bag, sprayed it with Raid. After closing it up for a hour or so, the skinning didnt make your skin crawl....literally.

fair chance she caught mange off a Wombat, they can carry it a bit.

the ticks are common up that way I guess? its thick n moist environment?

if it weren't ticks they were lice of some sort

Cool! I always thought that Oz was crawling with feral hogs...glad to hear that's not the case everywhere.

Nice Kenora Dinner Jacket, too. :)
