I've been watching buddies enjoy their K31's for close to a decade now since they first started comming into Canada in any numbers, but until I bought my Swiss 1906/29 Luger they never interested me the least bit as a collectible - though I always knew their reputation for being competent shooting irons.

Well getting the Luger finally prompted me to accessorize it by buying one of the readily available K31's on the market - though I believe that supply to now be drying up, at least in Canada. The last few imports have been of fewer guns and generally the condition is starting to be lower on average.

I wasn't willing to get a post-war example because I wanted something from the same era as my Luger (a 1944 piece) and because I'm not a fan of the beech-stocked K31s from an aesthetics perspective.

Of those I could still find on the market, this was the best one I could find that was matching (wood is matching as well) with a nice bore and that did not have cracks in the stock. Here are three small repairs to the stock, but they are Swiss military in origin and very well done with walnut. Thanks Weimajack.

Rifle is 1941 production with a oil finish, presumably linseed and bee's wax from what I've read. I also have a crate of GP11 en-route.

They are a very nicely made rifle. Outstanding workmanship. Before I narrowed my collection down to just M98's a K31 was high on the want list.

Congrats on a nice one Claven2!

The K31 was the first bolt action milsurp I ever bought.

I do not regret that purchase. Fantastic rifle that's a pleasure to shoot, enjoy it!

K31 is one of my favorite milsurp. Its fun to shoot, accurate, well made and the straight pull design is awesome.

Can't beleive they are not more popular, maybe its the price of surplus ammunition....

Beautiful rifle! I have one, after looking at them for a very long time. It is by far one of my favorites to take to the range, a terriffic shooter. I hope you enjoy yours as I do mine.

I just joined the Scandaltown K31 owner's club the other day. I bought one locally with nice stock and bore. Matching action and magazine serials, but bolt sleeve has no number stamped on it.

Can I ask where you shoot? I'm a member out at Stittsville, would be nice to shoot this thing for the first time with someone.

Not a problem for shooting.
I can exchange bolts on every K31s I have with no changes to accuracy. Original bolt Sleeve either lost, or cracked when dropped on a rock, cobblestone or cement They are hardened so can be brittle compared to other parts..
They did have different size bolt heads for head spacing, but I have never seen a rifle with anything other than the non-marked original size ones. Blank ones were supplied with the field armorer kits.
