Hi folks

Got my Lee anniversary kit(and very glad I bought a second press!) today and just finished up my first batch of handloads. I put together some .303 from parts scavenged from 7.62x39. What a great feeling! I can't wait to get tuning some loadouts for my Enfield, I can feel a new addiciton coming on... So what was your first foray into reloading?

Congrats,
It is very expensive addiction.

I started few years back with RCBS kit and then move to arbor press using Wilson dies. Now I am looking to buy progressive press.

Still use my lee press and some lee dies, but started playing with Hornady dies. I like them. My first loads was for 270win and 38special

Congrats!

My first was a Lee hand press loader I bought last year, and it came with a set of .308 dies that I don't need (yet). I bought some .303 dies to go with it, powder, primers, bullets, and opened my used brass bucket. And after the tight groups I got I'll never look back at commercial ammo...unless of course I need the brass. :D

Unfortunately I bent the little Primer rod that seats the primers...my freaky grip again. But I have another set on order. :D

Now I need to get 6.5x55 Dies, and such for my new Swedish Mauser. :D

Congrats.
I as well just picked up the anniverary kit and can't wait to use it.My first experience was with a Lee Loader kit for 303.Slow,got the job done, but was dissapointed that I could not get consistant cartridge length settings.Unfortunatly,I can't get out to shoot my loads because of the damn snow!
For the 303,I'm using 37.5 grains of H335,180 grain bullet and Winchester lg rifle primers.I also just picked up some accurate 2520.Can't wait to see how much of a difference the 2 different powders make on group size.

Congrats to you. It is a gratifying feeling. I started with Lee equipment for my .308win and still use quite a bit of the Lee materials (press, shell holders, hand primer, case length gauge/cutter). You will have even more fun once you start seeing some results down-range and when you take a deer with one of your own reloads.

Good luck and load safe.

It'll only get worse, there's no cure!!:D I just started again after more then two decades of none. I love the new hornady dies. It really keeps the cost down if you want to shoot rifle or .45 acp. After shucking through thousands of rounds on an old single stage I inherited from my grandfathers estate I broke down and bought the Hornady Lock and Load progressive. Now if it will just arrive!!:( Should be soon......

Have fun and play safe!

ollie...i hope you had some guidence from someone that knew what they were doing...
you will know when your hooked on reloading:p
you will go to the EE...and order #### you think you need;)
BTW...check into tods:eek:
he may be a kid in my books... but he knows his gun stuff;)

Another one that has the bug, Once you get it it will never go away. Glad your first attempt was successful. My first was a 225 winchester, Lyman press, lyman dies and scale. I was a great feeling when the first loads went bang. I very seldom buy factory ammo, unless I am trying to build up my brass stock for a caliber that I can't find brass for.
Keep loading.

Tod, I did reuse the powder, it was from the oh so common czech surplus that's been around lately. Saw some other members had done the same. Did I miss something, and it's a really bad idea?

since you're using it in a larger volume cartridge, like the 303, it shouldnt cause any excessive pressure (I assume it is a fast-medium burnrate powder).

just swapping around components can be a little risky though! :)

No doubt I wouldnt just go popping unknown powder into reloads. However I've read a few places on the 'net(including this site, everything you read on the internet is true, right?) that it's a nice gentle load, easy on brass and cheap for plinking, all of which I have found to be the case(although the bullets are on the small end at .310). It's nice to blast away with the enfield and not blow a ton of cash...
