Thanks for that, interesting read.

So ejecta's caused by powder that's too far from the primer, and that follows the bullet out instead of burning with the rest. I wonder why this never seems to happen with factory loads... Maybe for the same reason that you can't "hear" the powder inside the shells like you can with handloads?

Try a faster burning powder. In my 44 mag, the slower the powder, the more unburnt crud I find left in the gun after firing.

Aaah, yes, I suspected that burn rate might play a role in this. I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
