Well I finally went and did it. After months and months of asking questions of you all i made a decision and its finally here.
Dan Wesson model 15-2. It came with two barrels and two sets of grips.
Both a 10 inch and a 6 barrel and wood and pachmyer grips.
Ive only had it a short time so im not sure which grips i will end up using full time but one thing i do know is this pistol is going to require a lot of ammuntion.!!
Well the bluing is the deepest and darkest ive ever seen with a reflecting property like a mirror. The internals and cylinder are in excelent condition and there is no showing of serious wear. This thing is a tank. There really isnt anything i dont like about this pistol. I got to shoot a 686 the week before i received this one and find i favor it over the smith. IMO better weight, trigger, sights, vent rib, S/A and D/A pull and i prefer my grip options much more. Also the way the cylinder opens is different and im finding it pretty cool.
Plus due to the weight of the frame felt recoil is reduced. I like the feel and heft of it much more than the 686 too.
I dont feel ive settled at all, what an amazing pistol IMO.

Does anyone else have one ? There isnt a lot of info out there.
BTW the finnish is so glossy its hard to get a good shot. The bluing on the reciever is almost purple in colour. Dan certanly spared no luxury making this wonderful piece.

Nice gun!

I can't speak for a 586 or 686 because I have never owned one. Lots of guys will tell you they are the best (next to a python of course).

But I'm happy with my DW revolver. The wood grip fits my hand well, it's weighted well and shoots accurately. I have only so far shot .38, but this spring I will try a box of .357 at the plates to determine how the grip feels with the extra recoil.

Have fun with it. You have a decent revolver there.

Did you get a barrel wrench and gauge with it? I'm still looking for one and I am reluctant to order one from CZ USA.

If you don't mind me asking, how much $ did you drop for it?

I think I know where you got that DW, Target. There were a couple of wrench sets here at the last gun show. I don't own any small or medium frame DWs anymore, but I still have a couple of large frames (44 and 357 Max). They are very accurate revolvers. - dan

Well if you can get me one please let me know and I'm sure we could work something out.

Got the DW from a CGN'r in Sakatchewan.

Thanks

Dan Wesson firearms are superb revolvers. In the "haydays" of metallic sillouhette shooting, many had them with the longer barrels. They are very accurate thanks to their unique 3 lug lock system on the cylinder. The trigger is sharp and the hammer travel short, giving excellent lock time and quick DA shooting.

Should had bought one when they were readily available AND
at a least expensive price.

My kit came from Armco and Gunnar included the wrench and gauge.
Very nice guy to deal with. Lots of communication, no surprises :dancingbanana:
I cant wait to try shooting plates with it. 357 feels like practically nothing at all with the ten inch barrel.

The only thing i noticed with the pistol is the barrel crown is a bit off to one side. Will take to a smith to get it recrowned. Anyone else have issues with this? Also the rear sight seems a bit low on one side.
Im happy with it the way it is but is the overtravel or trigger adjustable?
Im glad im getting some replies to this as i wasnt really sure how many other people shoot these pistols. Its all S&W down here.

Unfortunately CZ-USA will not ship out of the USA any more, I got a few things from them last year but their policy has since changed:

DUE TO OUR LIMITATIONS, WE CAN ONLY PROCESS ORDERS THAT ARE BEING SHIPPED TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

No shipments outside the USA at this stage. Thank you for understanding.
