Just built the shorty on the bottom. DPMS lower with a Maple Ridge Armoury SLW upper and 9" handguard. The barrel is a 10.3" Ballistic Advantage Hanson premium series in .223 Wylde with a 1:8 twist. I've borrowed the ACOG and Lantac BCG from my 3-gun rifle for the time being. I have a Toolcraft NiB BCG on the way. Just threw an A2 flash hider on there for now until I decide on something more permanent. I also need to source a red dot to complete the build. I do have an Aero Precision flip up sight set that I could use too but a magnified optic is just easier on my eyes.

The rifle on top is my 3-gun rifle and is a Colt Canada lower with a Maple Ridge Armoury 16.1" Match Series upper. I have the scope on there for the off season as I was planning to go do some 100 yd paper punching when the weather warms up a bit.

I have to say that I criticize your choice of pistol grip, it seems that it's too "swept" for a PDW pattern of AR 15; i will however nod along with that raptor, ACOG, and handstop. You've got yourself a formidable fighting rifle that will be great fun when you visit the range

I built the lower first using furniture that I already had on hand. What would you suggest that would be more suitable for a PDW?

I’m fond of BCM’s offerings but the Moe K grip is another (I think that’s the one I’m thinking of). I have a BCM grip on my 10.5” AR and it's perfect for a PDW build.

Nice build BTW.

Thanks for the input guys. I am going to order a Magpul MOE SL which also has a 17 degree grip angle. I also am going to try a M-lok MVG as the curved foregrip is at the wrong angle for me with how short the handguard is.

Swapped the lowers around because this new upper just became my favourite. The new grip angle does feel more natural. Also swapped out the handguard and added a PSA fluted flash can. Still not sure which way I am going to go with the foregrip. Not liking the vertical grip so I think I may go back to the knock-off SI Link.

Great looking rifles!! How difficult was it to purchase the individual parts for the build? I’m new to the Canadian firearms word so not sure if each part needs special registration or just the lower?

Easy enough to find parts though not as easy as in the USA. I did incur more shipping costs as I bought from a few different vendors to build this the way I wanted. The lower receiver is the only part that is restricted and requires registration with the CFO.

Nice builds !

Looking at slick side AR uppers for a few builds. How you liking the Maple Ridge Armoury slick upper ? Not seeing it on their site.

I liked it enough to buy a second one when TNA was clearing them out (MRA doesn't make them anymore). I actually have 3 MRA handguards at the moment so I am trying to find one more MRA upper but no luck so far.

They dumped this design ? What the ... looks great !

I think I finally have these two set up the way I want them (for now, LOL). The 10.3" is now sitting back on top of the DPMS lower which has had all of it's guts replaced with Battle Arms components and an ALG ACT trigger. Still trying to decide if I want to spend the money on a Geissele. I also finally settled on the Magpul K2 grip. It is topped off with an Aimpoint PRO that I picked up off the EE. The 16.1" is my 3-Gun rifle and got a new Aero Precision lower. They weigh 6.3 lbs and 6.8 lbs respectively. If I can find one more MRA SLW upper I am going to put that 9" handguard on it along with a 8.3" .300 BLK barrel.
