yup it's a messy job cleaning a new sks
What should i use to remove the cosmoline? brake cleaner, WD-40 or Valsol.
Don't forget: safety ON before attempting take-down of the trigger/hammer assembly, lest it won't come off the rifle.i believe the gun is soaked with Cosmoline. Trigger assembly is jammed in there, the safety is very stiff.
Chemicals, soaking, smell....Why bother?....Buy a small portable steam cleaner (60-70 bucks).....Strip it down and use the pressurized steam to melt the cosmoline away.....You can get into every nook and cranny, and since it heats the metal, it dries in no time....Far, far easier than other methods....And it has other uses as well....What should i use to remove the cosmoline? brake cleaner, WD-40 or Valsol.
