My first trap gun - Baikal single shot

I just ordered a Baikal IZH 18 sporting. Anyone have any experience with these? I found a few forum posts on them and they seem to be OK, didn't read of any horror stories.

This is the first gun i have bought blind, and for $350 I'm not expecting anything too special. Looks nice anyways. Will most likely serve as a spare for friends who want to try some waterfowl hunting also.

Congrats did_b, welcome to the club!

I have had an Izh18 for years and am happy with its performance. It is a nice little gun, indestructible like a Russian tank. It will give you a good pattern on trap clays. It will also make an excellent turkey gun. However, be prepared for a bit of a recoil, as the gun is relatively light.

Should be decent, I just got a Baikal SXS 20gauge off the EE and am very happy with it. Just bested my personal record in trap with it yesterday. It will probably be stiff as hell when you get it though, just shoot four or five boxes through it to break it in, mine is quite smooth now.
