Guys:
As I am packing my stuff for this weekend's M14 Clinic I decided to finally take a closer look at my Garand. I bought it a few years before C-68 came into effect at the Eganville gun show (from a large German guy at the end of the arena if I remember correctly) for a great price and have put about 300 rounds of factory and hand loads through it since. It shoots like a dream with my 168gr handloads .
and has nice wood.
It is a Feb 1942 vintage Springfield that was re-worked by the Danish (I believe).
Here are some numbers:
Receiver: 5328XX and D28291-17 C15
- Feb 1942 according to online references
Bolt: BMB D-28287 1904
- Is this an Italian bolt?
Barrel: D6535448 4-60 286 VAR "crown" "DK" "M", "KOA" in a circle
- Does this mean the barrel was made in 1960?
Op Rod: D35382 SA
Hammer: C46008-5 SA
Trigger Assembly: D-28890-18-SA
Anyone provide any other insight into this rifle?
What is the going rate for a rifle like this ? (I think I paid $300 for it
)
Finally here are some pics:
Enjoy. Will be available for fondling this Saturday ;-)
