My girl is too heavy. Needs to go on a diet!

How many rounds are on the barrel. if it is a low round count...Sell it there are probably a few guys looking to build BIG 30 cal rifles. 300 Norma mag comes to mind, and buy a new barrel. if you got some miles on her cut a couple of inches off and rechamber. check the weight and then decide if you want to cutter down..

Something to keep in mind also is by shortening your barrel, you can run hotter loads because there isn't as much pressure build up. I'm running a 21.75" Rock Creek done by ATRS and I'm loading my SMK 175gr with 46.75gr of varget seated to mag length and I"m not blowing primers. From 100yd zero, I need 31MOA to get to 1000yds and I've had it out to 1230yds easily.

By chopping the barrel, your center of gravity and balance point is going to rappidly change also making the gun feel a lot lighter.

If the barrel has a high round count, get ATRS to install a lighter contour Rock Creek 1:11.27 and you'll easily be able to pack it around and nuke stuff with the 165 lapua scenars at awesome distances. That's my goal for my next barrel job anyways.

Well, if you talking about machine shop rate of $100+/hour then yes that loan would be in order. For machinist with acces to lathe and milling machine working in his spare time all that could be done for let's say $350 or so, no bank loan needed. IF the barrel had substantial amount of rounds passed thru it (say more than 20000) then cutting 6" off of the chamber side and rechambering it would make it virtually brand new barrel....
The Contouring is what take the most work and time.
$350 are very reasonable for cutting, contouring, crowning, Threading for muzzle brake.

She's leaner and meaner

Barrel cut to 20" + brake. 2.5lbs lighter. I can actually shoulder it! Great work and quick turn around by Jeff at Grizzly Gun Works! Can't wait to get to the range.
