I'm looking to get into the black rifle sport. I'm looking for something in 308 that's not restricted. I can't tell from the ads if they are or not? I like the AR type guns. Any help is appreciated.

Black rifle sport as in CQB and 3Gun, or precision rifle/ Hunting?

If the first, I would recommend a .223 or maybe a x39 platform due to cost of ammo, recoil and weight. You are timed so any weight savings helps.

If the latter, then the XCR-M, the BCL-102 ( as mentioned above, if you can actually get one) or the Kelten RFB are your current options. The Modern Hunter is another but might be a bit costly on the pocket books.

I like my SG542, although as mentioned upthread it's not really AR-ish but more of a classic 1970s battle rifle. Optics are a challenge with the factory stock, but some shooters have added cheekrests or replaced the stock. I've left mine with iron sights—I like the old school look and I'm only using it for range fun. I wrote a detailed report here when I first got it.

Hold out for a BCL-102 and get in on the next pre-order.

The BCL has the modularity of an AR-10, with favourable pricing on accessories which is a massive bonus no other rifle can touch.
XCR-M? :puke:
FG-542? If you’re into Cold War era hardware and spending $$$ on mags.
