A few year back I bought a beat up 700 that seen 2 weeks in a wet gun case, I bought it for little or nothing serious pitting, rust you name it. I also had a new up factory barrel,(7mm RUM) from a take off build a while back.

Total in 150 for the gun 125 for the barrel. (approx value to loose if oops)

After reading alot, and ordering some basic gun smithing videos I decided for 300 bucks I could not loose, I was going to give it a shot.

I stripped it down, and went to work, the barrel was a SOB to get off but it came off, I Lapped the new barrel, I hope not too much but i gave it my all, I also pillar glass bedded the whole gun, frigging glue every place my wife just about killed me lol!!!

Was my first attempt to accurize a factory gun, complete.

To the range tomorrow with it as I hope this will be a MOA gun , and my long range hunting rifle,

Hope to shoot 140 accubonds, at 3400 plus FPS but we will see.

Looks great. Same type of project I'd like to try out as well. Hardest part is finding a messed up Rem 700 action to start with. Been keepign my eyes open for one but most people think they're gold plated.

Let us know how it shoots.

Ya I got lucky with the action, my cousin messed up this gun bad, wacked the stock and scratched it up bad, along with the barrel, and he was peed off so he just put the gun his hard case, wet!!! oops, 2 weeks later when he opened it yikes!!!! so I wanted an action bingo.....bought his.

Rust was bad but i got it all off, and blued the receiver.

I do not care how it looks, I just want it to shoot, lol if it does not I guess its a trip to a real gun smith. I will be happy with MOA

How does it feed rounds from the mag ?

Just like butter!

It was 7mm RUM to start with!

I will find out in 2 hours if it shoots

The whole purpose of this gun is to hunt whitetail from a stand on our farm where, the shot can be 300 yards plus. I have plentry of rifles that will do this, however its neat to put one together by your self for a specific reason. And also would be raely cool if if shoots sub MOA.. But we will see.

looks like a fun little project! One question though, how did you headspace it? If you didn't, I would suggest sizing down 300 brass until it just fits with some resistance to the bolt.
