Gee, Kevin, why can't you be like all the cool kids and put that list in your signature line?

no, i've always found that an odd thing to do. i posted this cuz it just kinda popped into my head the otherday when i was going through my gun cabinet that i'm ready to go for anything hunting wise. i was actually kinda surprised.i thought i was lacking. guess not.

Pretty well covered Kevin, maybe light in the real big calibers but you did say NA game.
My collection so far (wouldn't call it an aresenal)

10/22 and Tbolt
77/22Hornet
700 VSSFII 204
527 and 7615 223
Cooper 25-06AI
Win 300WM
H&R 500S&W
12 and 20g

629 and 686, would like a rifle in 375, 338LM to round things out

i've thought about a .375 or bigger, but with some of my handloads the energy of my .358 Norma is equal or better then the .375 H&H. planning to hunt Africa with in the next 10 years, but just plains game so it'll be fine, infact for most of them it'll be overkill.

Application: Preferred gun

Small Game/Plinking; Ruger 10/22
Varmint/Predators; Swiss Arms PE-90 flattop incoming
Open Country Big Game; Rem 700 LTR in 308
Bush Big Game; custom Rem 700 7mm
Heavy Game/Africa; Ruger No 1 458 Lott
Upland Birds; Fabarm Martial Pro Forces (?)
Waterfowl/Turkey/Slug; same as above, plus shorty Rem870, plus two SxSs (one 20", one 12.5" incoming)
Black Powder; Nada, no desire to play with this yet
Bow; Bowtech Diamond

The shotguns need some work in terms of actual hunting rigs, but I don't do alot of bird hunting so it hasn't been an issue yet.

only one prob with that kevin , last I heard it is a minimum .375 cal for africa , although I could be wrong , but i'm positive that's what I heard. I actually bought my .416 rigby and .458 win mag because of that. A nice ruger tropical in the .416 and my 458 is a CZ

You are just getting started! :D

No long range 7mm/300mag/338s?
No heavy hitters....like a 375/416?
You haven't got one lever action....You "need" at least a few of those!

No LRT, bench rest, or competition stuff?

You collection needs work Bubba!

You don't have everything covered - a .358 NM isn't an African large game rifle and it isn't legal most places there for the big 5. What you need now, and there's a great one listed FS right now is a .500 A-Square. Now THAT'S a large game stopper -not just a killer, a stopper.

Most versatile gun is the 12 gauge shotgun. I can do me for small game, large game, birds, and varmints. It may not always be the least messy. But it gets the job done. And if you want, you can get really surgical with it. I just realized that I have 5 12 gauge shotguns.

I also have my backups:

Savage 12FVSS .308
Norinco M305
Browning BL22
Cooey model 60
Lyman Muzzleloader

it's only the miniumum for dangerous game such as cape buffalo and lion. for plains game, such as kudu, gemsbok or eland, the .358 would just fine, since most people use a 300 mag of some sort.

7mm magnum? EWWW! GROSS! why don't i just dress in drag?:D no, with practice i can make any shot i'd use one of those for with either the .30-06 Ackley or the .358 Norma.

as for lever actions, i didn't list everything i owned, just what i use for those particular hunts. there's a 1895 Winchester in 7.62x54R that gathers dust in my cabinet. and for heavy hitters i might make concession and buy a Sharps in .45-120 down the road. and i've used the .223 for 300m long range matches, did pretty good too first time out.

now what i did realize i was missing is a lightweight varmint type walking gun, and ther's no semi auto rifles either, so i killed 2 birds with 1 stone and bought the last AR180b that epps had.
