Just bought the conversion kit for my kimber custom II. It won't cycle properly, like wont even return forward on its own after you pull the slide back. Has anyone had this problem before? Will a quick buffing of the rails do the trick? Or is there any other tricks to it? Almost seems like the spring is too weak.

First thing I'd do is run the slide on the frame without the barrel or recoil spring on. That should diagnose if the slide is the problem or not. Then put the barrel in and repeat. Keep adding parts until you replicate the fault. The last part added should be the one causing trouble.

Once you know the source of the problem then a solution is closer at hand. What ever you do don't use a dremel. If it can't be fixed with ulta fine grit sandpaper then send it back for warranty replacement to who ever you bought it from.

When you get the issue isolated post some pics, it helps everyone alot to be seeing what your seeing and generates x 10 better advice.

it seems that everthing slides good until you put the pin in it to lock the slide, then I think its pulling the barrel down to the point that it makes the slide hard to move. I am no gunsmith by any means but I'm pulling my hair out over it LOL

I run mine quite wet and oil the contact point with hammer as well and it's not bad... not what I would call reliable but I usually get a few mags through before any FTFs. m It's on a norc frame.

I went to the Kimber web site and checked what their upper conversions look like. Not the best photo's ( <-- Hint hint ). As best I can see there's only one hole at the base of the barrel for the slide release.
Again, without pics I'm kinda guessing but if installing the slide release causes the barrel to drop down to the point that it's jamming the gun then I'd have to say it a defect. It has to be drilled out of alignment or something similar.
Best bet is to try this. Install the slide, barrel, and bushing ( no recoil spring or plug ) and see what happens. I'm highly doubtful that a burr would cause that kind of failure but check with a light and magnifying glass to see if the slide stop hole has been cleanly cut.
Also check the 22 barrel's fit in the frame all by itself and with the slide stop pin installed ( but no slide or other stuff) It's barely possible that the barrel is oversize to the lower cutout.

I got it workin with a small bit of Buffing. Works great with quality ammo, I'm going to have to buy some different kinds of ammo to see how cheap I can get away with. The CCI stingers work really good but they are $7.99/box
