John's description of these guns on his web site back in 2006.

MANHATTAN NAVY SERIES 1 CIVIL WAR REVOLVER .36 Cal. Circa early 1859- January 1860. Five shot, 4 inch barrel. Barrel address “Manhattan Fire Arms Mfg. Co. New York”. Traces of blue in protected areas. Matching numbers. Cylinder has clear panels, note 10 cylinder stops. Wood grips are excellent retaining most of the original varnish. Brass trigger guard has strong traces of silver plating. Overall patina is a lovely dark grey. V.G.


COLT M.1862 POLICE REVOLVER .36 Cal. Dates 1863. 4 ½ inch barrel. Matching numbers except for the wedge which has no number. 5 shot cylinder “Pat. Sept. 10th 1850”, in flute of cylinder. Barrel address “Col. Sam L Colt New York U.S. America”. Strong rifling with light pitting throughout the bore. The walnut grips are excellent retaining most of the original varnish dark blue/brown patina overall. Strong areas of silver plate on the back strap and trigger guard. Tight crisp action. V.G. to V.G.+
