My Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 (T)

The rule here is that you must give your rifle to the first person who responds to your post.

Now back to reality .... Nice Rifle. Welcome!

Nice rifle!

One day I might have to try to find one.......I think I've gone over my gun budget for this year though.

FuzzyWoolHat: Very nice! Does it shoot well? I'm curious about the metal finish on these- do you feel yours is original or re-finished? My reason for asking is a '45 T that I own that looks like a brand new gun but the experts tell me has been re-furbed. Can't seem to find much about how these guns were finished when they left BSA Shirley or after being converted at H&H.

Hi there!

I'm pretty sure my rifle still has the original finish as you can clearly see some long term wear on various parts. I'm guessing that the T models were cared for much better than the average infantry No4. She shoots great as far as I am concerned, I got a 1.15 inch group at 100 yards with my handloads on Friday so I'm a happy camper.

Nice rifle, does it have any markings on the forend that show that it was replaced?

Yeah that's a honey of a piece. Let me know if I can borrow it. Right on about the handloads. Was gonna be my next question but I read more. Lol. What specs on the handloads.

I'm using 174 gr Sierra matchkings with 41.5 grains of varget and cci 200 primers. I'm sure I could work up a more accurate load but I'm a lazy person. Also don't have a chronograph so I'm pretty much just guessing when I get near the target velocity of 2440 fps.

All righty then. Guess I will borrow it. I'm not lazy and do have a chrony. Lol.

Right on. I just stepped In the enfield game as we'll with a Jungle Carbine. I could only get 125s for it and mine prefers 4064. Fine for me with irons. Little flatter shooting than big bullets plus I just circumvented the 303 shortage with Russian x39 bullets bulk. Thing shoots 13" low at 100. So gonna file down the front sight.

Nice! Well if I ever decide to move out west I'll let you give her a run. I was using 4064 for a year or so just because of availability, but she definitely prefers varget. The Jungle Carbine is awesome, I got 10/10 on the 2000 yard gong with the first shots through mine

If it is shooting low all you need to do is raise your rear sight, why would you destroy the front sight for a temporary fix which would vary based on the type of ammo you are shooting?
