It must be over five years that i had most of the parts laying around to attempt this build. The reciever was a NOS 1950 long branch and the barrel was a new Lothar Walther but cant remember where i bought it... Anyways this was my first time barreling a rifle so my process might have been a bit wonky but it worked lol.

I am by no means a machinist but knowing enough to be dangerous and with access to a lathe at work i turned back the barrel to get the reciever indexed. With google by my side what i figured was to get the reciever hand tight about 18 degrees before where its should be. The layout blue i put on there was just so i could mark that. This is what i meant by maybe a bit wonky...

built an action wrench. A bit over kill i know.

Back at home i filed in the extractor slot and also had to file the barrel face carefully to keep it flat and to get it headspaced.

Finish reaming the chamber..

Over kill again, built myself a barrel vice. this step i wish i would have built this right off at the start because i wasted my time trying to clamp it in a vice in blocks and also tried clamping in a press between blocks but none of that worked.

And here she is finished other than a couple little things i need. The barrel was actually .030” fatter than original so i had to drill out the front sight base and a bayonet will not go on but thats alright. i eventually want to get walnut hanguards to match. When it warms up I will see how it shoots. It was a fun project and now i have a like new No.4
