My Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special (Yeah, now with actual pics!) & Nill Grips

I've seen NIB TRS on GB going for around $1750. Add $150 for the import fees + shipping, tax, currrency conversion and about a month wait, it would come down to around $2250 to your door.

You did good. $1650 for a low round count TRS to your door and no wait, hard to do better.

My price comparison was based of Cdn retailer pricing ($2,300 for a UTC, which is just a bit less than a TRS) + $325 for the Bear coating. EE is the way to go IMO unless you're looking for a very specific piece that would be custom order to your specific liking.

EE sure is the way to go, lots of deals if you catch them in time. Makes me remember when I bought my NIB Ed Brown SS Executive Target with some custom options a few years ago. The original invoice from BDW was $3499 + tax, I saved over $1300 on it and it was still brand new never fired. I even got a couple of WC 47D's from an awesome CGN'r to sweeten the deal. What more could you ask for?

Deals like that pop up once in a while, you just have to keep you eyes open and be ready to quickly drop the Benjamin's to make them yours.

Nice, how do you like the thin grips?

OK

****Harry, happy now!

Are they ever thin! I don't mind them but if my hands were any larger they would be too thin I would say. Put it this way - I have no issues with the staggered-stack mag well of my HK45 w/ large backstrap. Not the best comparison perhaps.

All this said, I really like 'em.

It'll be interesting to see how the Nill grips feel in comparison.

If I may suggest that you bring a standard set of grips with you next time you go shooting so you will know what's best for you and you won't order a set for nothing. Don't forget to bring screws with the grips as your TRS's short screws won't fit with thicker stocks.
Here is a picture of my gunsite, very similar gun except it has a short trigger with thin stocks.

Very nice Ben! That's a beauty!!

I myself prefer standard grips. Tried some slims twice but just didn't do it for me.

Again Ben, great gun! I'm sure you'll be delighted on how it performs at the range. Just came back from a 300 rounds session and I'm still amazed on how the Prowler performed today.

I'm looking forward to it that's for sure :)

Re grips - I'll give it a couple of range sessions and will go from there, but they are thin that's for sure. Standard grips fit me best on 1911s and will probably be what I revert too until the Nill get here.

Been pulling some dry fire and I'm really in awe with the trigger pull and break. Did you measure yours?

Mine as a 3.5# (instead of the standard 4#) from the LB Shop. Didn't had a chance to measure precisely but I suspect it's now (after 850 rounds fired) in between 3# and 3.5# very crisp with nearly no travel. It's super sweet & breaks like thin ice.
