I have 2 Remington 700 "Classic" rifles that have seen quite a bit of action over the past 20 years or so.
1. A 6mm Remington. It now wears a 26" Bob Jury tube, 1-8" twist SS barrel. This rifle has a Triggertech
trigger and is bedded into the original Classic Walnut stock. It is a very accurate rifle, and it just loves the
90 grain Scirocco II chased by IMR 7828 at just over 3200. groups generally run around 5/8 moa if I do
my part. Also shoots the 100 Partition well...I use H1000 for that bullet.
2 A 6.5x55 Swede. It is on it's 3rd barrel, so you know it has been shot a fair bit. Second barrel was a Pac-Nor
Supermatch. Washed the throat at around 3700 rounds. It now wears a Shilen 24" 1-8 twist SS. Also has a
Triggertech on it, and is bedded in the original lumber. Also a very accurate rifle, and quite Catholic as to
different loads. The 140 grain Ballistic Tips, Partitions, Accubonds and Hornady IL FB all shoot sub moa. Also in
the sub-moa category are the 130 Scirocco II, the 130 Accubond and the 125 Partition. Some loads flirt with
½ moa.
Guntech did the 'smithing on both these, and he did a very fine job, as he is known for.
These rifles get carried
when I am specifically Deer hunting, but of course, should a legal Elk or Moose show up, I will use what is at hand.
Good bullets and careful shot placement spell success. They are both ready to go for this fall [and I am retired] Dave.
