It all started with a used Rem700 in 708 with an HS Precision Silhouette stock that wouldn’t shoot. I had never experienced a shot out barrel and assumed I didn’t get along with the stock. I decided to try a MDT HS3 and Magpul UBR with an add on rubber but pad for fun. Six inch groups at 300 summer of ‘16 resulted in a new barrel from Go Ballistic Gunsmithing in June ‘17.
First and second 10/10 on an IPSC18x24 from the bench at 900 a couple days apart. At this stage I was learning to be motionless.
September ‘17.

A month later on a calm morning my wet bags of sand trapped the fore end and eliminated the horizontal. By then I was getting better at aiming the gun then sneaking up on it with firm hold while be careful to not lean on or push the gun around before firing. Didn’t recognize what those wet bags did for me until years later.
Oct’17.

A little sideways and a flyer became the norm. 10 inch circle.
July’18.

First group at 100 after two years of only 1000. Assuming wind was out there when it wasn’t caused some wobbly habits. Quit 1000 for the next 18 months.
Oct’19.

During that time I put a couple IBI 6BR prefitts on varmint type rifles. Tried free recoil with no luck. Holding the scope didn’t help. Tightened up the grip and shoulder pressure. Then began seeing 3 shots with two holes but one was darker. I started watching the reticle very closely and could see movement in the direction of the impact. That was an epic moment.
Back to back 5 shot groups at 100 with more experience.

Using what I learned at the 100 yard bench in a field scenario, here’s a 1000 yard cold bore standing with a Bog DeathGrip tripod aiming at the center six inch circle.
