I recently picked up a APEX aluminum trigger,hard sear, and ultimate striker block and various springs from another CGN member. Install from start to finish took under 2 hours. This was my first experience with upgrading parts on a handgun. No springs went missing and everything worked. Also I found its a great way to get a better understanding of how you gun goes bang. Trigger feels great now, much less pre-travel and a smoother lighter pull. I would absolutely recommend this upgrade to anyone with a M&P.

I actually like the factory trigger on my M&P. Breaks clean, not heavy at all, and the reset always works. S&W got the trigger right from the start.
I have told this story before but it is still interesting: At the 2011 SHOT SHOW, I was at the S&W booth and noticed a display case with and M&P in it. Wondering why a run of the mill M&P was behind glass gave the clue. The M&P in the case had "APEX" engraved on the slide, implying that it had the trigger treatment. I thought that this was highly unusual since S&W has no affiliation with the aftermarket Apex product, so I flagged down an S&W rep and asked him.
He told me that S&W was not using Apex treatments in their M&P. So I directed him over to the display case and pointed out the engraved M&P. He could not believe it, but he could not explain it either. I wanted to follow up the discussion but the rep disappeared and the S&W booth was just too busy to ask anyone else. But the Apex engraved M&P was there!

From the gun rags making the rounds the new S&W Shields (ultra compact M&P's) have a redesigned trigger mechanism. The comments on the trigger from actual test users were very favourable. Near the end of the article the S&W rep stated that that this same trigger will be incorporated into the entire M&P Pistol line over time.

There was a time when you had to send your gun to a gunsmith to make that kind of improvement - great isn't it? Once you've pulled apart an M&P and seen exactly how it works, you realize that it's a pistol that anyone can maintain, with little to no tools and very few spare parts.
I just ordered mine from Brownells for the M&P 9. Can't wait. Had to do two separate orders because of the $100 ITAR limit. I thought I had heard a rumour that the limit went up to $500, but the order desk at Brownells were not aware.
So that sucked. Can't wait to get the parts anyway.

I had a hard time telling any difference in the reset as well. Also noticed before I had some front sight drift when the trigger broke. After installing the apex parts there is pretty much no sight drift. Which should be good for tighter groups.
