my M14 is eating scopes

when a leupold 3-9x40mm rifleman is only $250 at most gun store's why bother getting the clone scopes or cheap brand names.... I just had a clone fail on me, the IR 3.5-10 clone. on a ruger 10/22.

going to the gunstore on payday and getting that rifleman scope.... leupold quality with lifetime guarentee.

p.s.
are any of you m14 shooters noticing dents on the bottom of the scope from brass ejecting ??

I owned that rifle until a couple of coke heads stole it and 25 other rifles to trade for $1500 worth of coke. I would sure like to find that M1D again. bearhunter
:(

It would have been a crying shame if they found a small plastic bag that looked like coke, but was actually pure capsaicin and snuffed it up real good. Probably would either kill them or they would wish they were dead. Sorry to hear they stole your stuff.

Frontier, it does not matter about the expected rearward recoil of the scope. If you read this post in more detail you will see it is the reverse recoil of M14/M14 clones and other semi autos that surely destroy the cheap, cheaper and cheapest scopes out there.
Skooch, X4 for me on my belief as well as yours.....

Garbage in....garbage out...

Sorry fellas, and not to offend anyone, it is just the cold truth of the matter.

M-14 scope failure

Perhaps if the mount isn't fitted up properly, any scope will be subjected to extra stresses. This could be an inferior mount that doesn't fit well, or a very good mount not fitted properly. I had no problems with an M1-A, but I had an ARMS 18 mount that was solidly fitted.

Seen most M14's aren't using fix power scopes...The Leupold Mk4 LR/T 3.5-10x40 on many rigs in the US military.

guys not using fixed powers are the ones that can afford to top their rifles with high priced glass.....

I use an IOR 4x M1. That doesn't come cheap, but I like it.

The fixed power version is cheap in many brand scopes, compared to the same models being variable.....

Realistically speaking, if you want it for range work..... 10X comes cheap in 3200. If hunting is the norm, a 4x or maximum 6x would do for sure.////
