Hi,

Just received my ORA card, and also just finished off my rifle (Stevens 200 action, McGowan barrel, Richards stock). This weekend there are two ORA events at Borden, and I'm trying to decide which one to attend. Saturday is 1000 yds, but I haven't sighted in my scope yet, and it might be a waste of time. Plus, I've never shot farther than 300 yds. Sunday is a "precision clinic". I assume these are both weather permitting.

Any suggestions which would be the best for me to attend?

Rob

According to the calendar, the clinic is next weekend. The only thing listed for Sunday is a practice in Kingston.

Right you are. There's a short range thing tomorrow - 100 yards. Would I be wasting people's time if I came in with my scope not yet sighted in? Bear in mind, I'm pretty new to this.

You missed a zero, its a 1000 yard thing.

E-mail the organizer and ask what can be worked out. It may be possible to sight in on the other side of the range if things start off at short range.

I understand we are starting at 500 then shooting 1000. I am sure someone there will help you get on paper at 500 yards.

Try Ontario Rifle Association? Every province has a PRA (Provincial Rifle Association) affiliated with the DCRA ( Dominion of Canada Rifle Association) check out the DCRA webpage at www.dcra.ca to find your PRA.

I'll plan for next weekend. The precision clinic sounds interesting: what happens at the clinic? Is it strictly class time, or range time as well? I'm dying to shoot this rifle!

Sunday May 23. the Swiss Club have a practice at 300 yards. You can shoot alongside them and get a rifle zero and test ammo, etc.

My wife and I will be there doing the same thing.

I'm not familiar with the Swiss Club, but this sounds like something I'd be interested in attending.
