New on the forum and just a quick post to show off my baby. Winchester Model 1912 16ga, full choke, nickle steel. S/N lists to being made in 1915.
My grandfather used it as a carry along in WW2 (he was a bomber pilot) and later as a goose gun.

Firearms with a family history are wonderful.

That's why I treasure my late uncle's decrepit old sporterized Lee Enfield- because it was his.

I have two 16ga model 12s and one of them I shoot really well. Love the scale of them and the weight and carry. Great gun.

That's a real nice family heirloom and a treasure to own. . If you decide to shoot it I would recommend taking the receiver down for a good cleaning and lubrication. . Running the gun dry and dirty would most likely subject it to wear. . If you check around shorter shells are still available.

Unlike other Gun Makers, who built their 16 ga guns on a 12 ga frame, Winchester built their 16 ga on the 20 ga frame. . It carries like a 20 but shoots like a 12. . These nickel steel 16 ga Model 12's are a real treasure to own and shoot. . I have 3, 16 ga M12's, with one an early 2 9/16" chamber. . My favorite of the 3 is a mid-1930's solid rib gun with modified choke. .
