The first 2 days, nothing was moving - no sightings, and not much in the way of fresh sign. Saw a momma Black Bear with 2 cubs, and a big boar chasing, and a HUGE porcupine, but that was it. Then we had a real rainy night, and the next morning things were more interesting.

Due to ATV restrictions in the area, we did all our walking in the mornings, and took the quads out in the afternoons. I covered about 7 miles on the morning of the 4th day, poking my nose into a few muddy side trails here and there, and looped back to camp for lunch.

In the afternoon, I was in the routine of taking the ATV out over the same ground that I walked in the morning before going further afield, to see if there was any fresh sign on top of my tracks... And this is what I saw...

I don't know if that bear was following me all morning, or picked up my trail afterwards, but it went absolutely everywhere I went earlier on!
Not a real big one, by the look of it, but still, big enough!

Not sure if it was due to the rains at night, or the Grizz entering the area, but the moose finally started to move.... our group had multiple sightings, but no shots were taken. Everything we saw was too far away, not shootable (no bull draw), or into the tall timbers before we could get a rifle out. They seemed to be hanging out maybe 50 feet inside the trees, and pop out for 50 feet or so to feed, not straying too far from cover. We worked the tree lines HARD for a couple days and were rewarded with more sightings, but no shots. They all seemed very easily spooked for some reason, and retreated very quickly.

Sadly, I had to leave camp to go back to work after 7 days, just as things were heating up - but the boys are still at it for another 4 or 5, and I expect they will git er done soon.
