About 2 years ago I bought a 1938 izzy 91/30 from west rifle $110 special. The bore was dark and pitted but the rifling was in decent shape. I bought 2 crates of 1968 production romanian 7.62x54 at the same time and up until december 2012 i had put around 200 rounds through it. Accuracy was lacking and usually hovered around the 10moa mark. Throughout the winter i cleaned the barrel weekly with eds red and barnes cr10. Even after countless hours cleaning i still cant get a clean patch out of it but the bore looks 100 times better. Today at the range I managed to pull off a 2.5moa group. Lacking a target ( forgot them) and no markers in site
I had a blank piece of white paper to shoot at. Shot about 6moa high but overall it has come a very long way and i am more than happy with the results. In the grand scheme of things 2.5moa (100yards) is not spectacular but for what it is i have 0 complaints. Next time when i have my targets and i can concentrate on something i hope the groupings get even smaller but if they don't i wont complain. I cut out my grouping from the sheet of paper i had ( no i did not cut out flyers or anything) just did not need to keep the empty sheet of paper. Just thought i would share with everyone.

I'm working on something similar with an SMLE and a P14. Lots of bore scrubber and copper remover. Don't think these have been cleaned in at least 15 years. Both are looking better and I'm hoping to shoot them as soon as the snow melts a bit more.
