The OP's receiver seems to have the forward assist boss rounded. The later picture shows as being squared.
Personally, I like the squared version, in keeping with this guns overall angularity. The rounded one shows the steps of the CNC machining.
Should have been smoothed imho.
What is the difference?

That isn't our upper that you're looking at, ours isn't stepped.

I would suggest you handle a rifle with the NEA forend rail before deciding against it. To be honest I wasn't a fan of how it looks in pics but how it works and feels more than makes up for a slight difference in looks.

After I tried the rifle I really like how it feels.
