My new 17hmr

You'll find lots of positive opinions on here of both the 17 Hmr and the Savages.

I love mine, wish I could shoot it everyday.

Savage/.17 HMR=win/win. I think you'll love both. Very flat shooters, and great on small game. I buy a box of .17 HMR every time I'm at a store that sells it...even though I don't have many opportunities close to home. That way, when I do get some trigger time, I can shoot it like penny candy.

Takes the sting out of the $15 a box price tag big time. I love my HMR.

got one with the accutigger, i really like the trigger, so much i want to buy a savage center fire now, nice crisp break with no creep. Great gopher gun will be blasting them off the deck this year.

I've got a savage .17 with a vortex scope, I absolutely love it, was able to hit an empty .17hmr casing at 100 yards with it yesterday.

I have the Savage 17HMR in a heavy varmint barrel with a thumb hole stock & love it! Like any rifle it likes some ammo better than others. Mine seems to love the elcheapo Winchester silver box ammo which is just fine by me! YMMV!!
Once you find an ammo it likes, it'll quickly become a favourite! No recoil to speak of & straight as a laser! Don't cheap out on a scope. Remember.... garbage in = garbage out!

I have one of the same.... sweet little shooter.... If you are ever at Cabellas and the sales line up, I have good luck with the Hornady rounds! I hit a special when I was down in Portland last time... $10.99 a box. Taxes and Duties brought it back at just over twelve bucks.... Lucky I buy in bulk!

Have fun!

I have the Marlin 917V and I love the caliber. These are from today. 50 yards, 15-20kph crosswind.

I just got a Savage 93R17 FVSS, which is the black stock, heavy barrel, stainless version. Had it out yesterday and it is an absolute dream to shoot.

I will definitely vouch for the round being a laser. If I get some time when the weather warms up, and can get set up with a decent rest, I'll try and do a more formal range report.

I have a savage .17 hmr with accu trigger and love it great fun to shoot and very accurate. I could hit a nail at 75m 3 times with mine and it will do that all day. Have fun.
