Good day everyone, I wanted to share my love for my new toy

After lots of reading and some gopher hunting with friends Savage and Marlin, I made my choice!

It is a Savage 93r17 BTVS "Bolt-Thumhole-Varmint-Stainless"

Come with the Accu-triger, Laminate Royal Jacaranda Stock Made by Boyds Gunstock for Savage

I mounted a Prostaff Rimfire Nikon 3x9x40 with the BDC Spoton Reticule

Total Paid 806.00$ with a can of 500 Hornady 17HMR

Would like to thanks Gary for exeptional Services at P&D Edmonton

Can you do me a favor, take a close up of the bolt face. I've got the same rifle in 22mag. Just curious is the shape of the extractors is a bit off on mine.

Congrats, these things are super accurate and the barrel takes forever to get hot enough to effect accuracy even a little bit. Super fun to shoot!

Nice rifle. Nice scope. Those Sun USA or whatever they're called are GARBAGE. Replace them ASAP. Shame on P&D for selling them to you! It's a company that makes air gun rings...feel the inside. They're not close to smooth.

I have the same rifle. It's pretty nice. Be careful when pulling the bolt back too hard. You can easily cause a burr to form where the metal meets the stopper. It's pretty cheap white metal on the bottom of the bolt.

Also, the accu-trigger has a tendency to trip engaging the sear safety blade on mine and had to be increased in weight. Watch out for that.

Why see through airgun rungs?! It doesn't even have iron sights...
 
As the stock is a "straight Comb" with no drop, one needs to use higher or extra high rings to attain the correct cheek weld. He said he put a Nikon Prostaff optic on it, where did you get the "Sun USA" from?

The see through rings are to bring the height of the scope to eye-level.. with the cheekweld on that stock you need the extra height!

I just picked a rig up almost exactly like this on Thursday (only difference is the 6-18 Simons scope) and took it out today for it's "First Blood"...

I've shot plenty of gophers with a 22 before, but after seeing what the 'little 17" can do I'm impressed! Took a nice chest shot on one runner - those 17 cal Hornady bullets not only put those dirt dogs down but they also gut them too! Zeroed 1/2" low at 40 yards (Phoenix Range) and made kills to 200 yards without worry about drop (aimed center body on the lookout dogs).

Nice rig, enjoy the rifle!

Sun USA rings.

Also, as I said, I have the same rifle, medium rings work absolutely perfectly. You can get high rings if you need them for some odd reason (straight comb isn't the reason) which aren't see-through rings...

Straight combs are designed to bring your eye up nicely to a scope on a medium ring and give you a nice cheek weld. They're NOT designed to force you to use higher rings...

In other words: "You're doing it wrong." ;)

Keep in mind, everyone's cheekweld is different. Some have high cheek bones, some lower. For me, you can't get that scope low enough. I have never had a scope so low that I wanted taller rings. In fact, for me, the opposite, I have never had a scope low enough, and contantly feel like my cheek is floating.
 
I dont mind the rings for now, seem a pretty good rifle as it is
