Well, here it is, my first AR, never thought I'd see the day. :D

Still need to go out and pick up a few things, like a carry handle, trigger lock, break-free, etc, etc.

I'm pretty stoked about shooting this gun on Sunday, even if I don't have the handle for it yet.

I'm sure you mean a "better" trigger lock right? You of course have a trigger lock on in for storage of that nice looking restricted beast!!!!

That's a nice looking gun. I am going to start an AR build soon. Are you going to just keep it open sites or are you going to put some sort of optics on it? If you are putting optics, some people like to have the low profile gas block instead of the A2 type front site. If it helps, I am pretty sure Williams Arms in Port Perry has a carry handle in stock right now. Perhaps give them a call, they are open until 9:00 pm tonight.

Yeah, you're really gonna need a rear aperture sight if hope to hit anything you "aim" at. You could go with the classical carry handle rear sight or if you plan to get an optical sight some day you could get a flip-up rear sight instead. Only difference is you'd be able to keep that rear sight as a back-up on the rail with the optical sight rather than removing it.

I'm going to the range this Sunday, also, to fire my Sabre Defense XR-15CQBR. Gonna be a nice day! :)

I am becoming more and more a fan of iron sights over optics. I think I will be using the carry handle for quite some time. :)

A wonderful :D acquisition!!

Soon you will be ready to come out and play some CQB or Service Rifle! Yeeeha!!

That's in the works, slowly, but surely. I have picked up some dies and soon enough will get around to working up some loads. In the short term, I plan on doing more 3 gunning in the states and whatever is close to home.

Good call, I'm the same way. The carry handle came standard with my rifle, and that's good enough for me (for the time being). Due to the short barrel of my carbine (29cm), it's only really effective up to 200m. The only thing I plan to change on my rifle some day is to get a better stock than the wiggly standard one and a smaller width front sight pin for better accuracy past 100m. Other than that, all I've changed on it is swapped handguards and handle with OD ones and I've mounted a C9 LMG rear-grip onto the handguard as a front grip.

Some day, though, I may get an Elcan. I'm proficient with that optical sight, so that would be the final customization.

Welcome to the club of the AR, make sure you cannot reach your credit card and keyboard at the same time.

Amen to that...

I'm in a constant state of buying and selling accessories... It's an expensive habit.. Nothing of my original AR is left now.. It's cost me 1000s of $ and I don't even get to shoot it that much.. But at the end of the day I'm completely satisfied. :D

I think alot of people are like that too much money and time spent selling buying and building rather than shooting.
