Well, after a long process of my favourite dealer doing his utmost to cajole the required parts out of various U.S. distributors, my shiny new AR-10 SOF Carbine is finally complete and enroute to its rightful owner. In all fairness, the base carbine was available from the time I placed my initial order. It just took me a while to decide on the details, and after that a bunch of U.S. export stuff got in the way. But at the end of the day? Mr Wolverine came through yet again (no surprise) and set me up with my "dream gun".
Here's an initial pic. It is missing the MagPul Green Rail Protectors to balance out the all-important colour-coordination, but you get the idea.....
Specs are as follows:
Base Firearm - Armalite Special Operations Forces (SOF) Mid-length Carbine with 16" light-profile, chrome-lined barrel
Butt-stock - Magpul M93
Pistol-Grip - Magpul MIAD with multiple backstraps and front panels
Trigger Guard - Magpul Enhanced
BUIS - GG&G MADD Rear, GG&G Front (both detent-locking versions)
Main Optic - EOTech 552 Holosight
Optic Mount - GG&G Accu-Cam QD system
Forearm - Daniel Defence Mid-Length Free-Float Rail System
Vertical Foregrip - Tango Down Inc, with Pressure Switch Inlet
Internals - Armalite 2-Stage Match Trigger
Flash-Hider - DPMS Phantom
There's more, but you get the basic idea. The build has been fully function-tested by Mr Wolverine with all 5 magazines put repeatedly through their paces. Function is flawless - this carbine is good to go.
Yes, I am very pleased. And yes, it was relatively expensive. For comparison's sake, my bare-bones Swissarms Classic Green cost about 1/3 less. You can do the math. And those who know their "black guns" can also appreciate that the new addition was worth every single penny.
It is on the way. More pics to follow when the carbine arrives.
I am itching to build its exact twin in 5.56mm. The Armalite M-15 lower is already put aside.
My standard Colt AR15A2 and PWA 11.5" Commando are beginning to look kind of lame in comparison....
Cheers,
Mark C
