So the other day I finally decided on a forend to buy for my latest build. While I was at it I decided to swap uppers so now my 300BLK build has the new Daniel Defense upper and the 6.8SPC has the old NEA upper. The reason for the swap is the 6.8 barrel will eventually end up back in my non restricted ACR and this upper will get the restricted length ACR factory barrel and probably be used in 3-gun.
I ended up going with the AP Custom carbon fiber 12 3/8 inch forend for this upper and leaving the Troy Alpha with flip up sight on the 300BLK.
I also upgraded the trigger in the NEA lower I put together replacing the Daniel Defense trigger with an ALG nickel boron enhanced single stage trigger ($77).
Thanks to Phoenix in Edmonton for the forend and Tier One for the ALG trigger. you can see the nickel boron trigger in the 4th picture, the entire trigger group is coated.
The carbon forend is light and the finish is really nice. I can definitely feel a difference in weight between it and the Troy forend I swapped over for it's first day at the range. I'm looking forward to how light this will be with the 16 inch lighter profile factory ACR barrel.
I haven't shot it with the ALG trigger yet but it sure feels nice dry firing it in the gun room.

Here are a few pics of the carbon forend.

Love the full length rail on that Carbon Fibre foreend.
Real nice look to that rifle.

Does it mount to a standard AR Barrel nut or is it a proprietary nut?

Shoot straight - chrisco

Standard barrel nut. I should have taken a picture of the mounting gear. You need to remove your barrel nut and put a ring behind it then bolt a plate to the front of it after you re-install the the barrel nut, this sandwiches the barrel nut and holds the mount very solid, then the carbon tube just bolts to that with three screws.

What's the ID on that forend? ;)

BTW had my 10" BLK out the other day and finally got the AK762 optic sorted. It reliably rings a ca 6" gong at 100 yds with the 150gr subsonics. Mucho fun that is. :).

I'll have to measure the id for you. It's fairly large, I'm sure you won't have any trouble fitting what I know your thinking of fitting under there ;)
Phoenix had 9", 12 3/8" and 15 inch in stock and most were available with and without the full top rail, they might of had the 7 inch but I didn't notice them as I was torn between the 12 and 15 inch. Mine included the 2 inch rail sections in the second picture to mount in the vent slots.

We need to line up a shooting day again, make it a 300BLK outing :)
That upper I put together with the barrel you made me now has a Fail Zero NiB BCG and a Daniel Defense upper with a port door with 300 BLK on it :)
I just need some time to get it out to the range and test some loads in it. It's shooting sub 2 moa with the 110gr V-max loads I had developed for my PWS 300BLK upper and the 155gr A-max loads I developed for my Rem 700SSD and the ACR (both of those shoot those loads sub moa :))

These pics are before I swapped the uppers around (still has the NEA upper which is now with the 6.8 barrel).
This upper and the 6.8 share the NEA lower I put together but it just got the ALG NiB enhanced single stage trigger I bought the same day as the carbon forend.

I tested the ALG NiB enhanced trigger with my trigger pull gauge and it consistently breaks just a hair over 6 pounds and is very smooth. I can't wait to get it to the range.

LOVE mine

Find any Norinco ammo to shoot through it yet? Hahahaha! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Didn't know Norinco made 6.8SPC ;)
I'm still doing everyone a favor and leaving the Norinco 5.56 for everyone else to use in their rifles.
I don't want to cut into the ammo supply of all the shooting purists out there that only run the best ammo available through their rifles. I'll stick to my crappy American Eagle and my handloads.
