This is the fifth mold I've designed and had made by "Mountain Molds" in the US. From the time of my order to it delivered to my door was about 10 days (although it's rarely nearly this quick). Cost was about $150 delivered including about $25 in Taxes and Duty which hasn't always been applied. The mold is a two cavity made of high quality aluminum and the bullets are exactly as designed and drop freely from the mold, weighing 355 grs with gas check and lube using wheelweight + ~2% tin.
L to R: Berger 300 gr 338 cal OTM, MM433355 with lube, M433355 "Naked".
My inspiration for this was the Discontinued "Ranch Dog TLC432-355-RF" (drawings for which can be googled). I needed a bullet that was 0.433" in diameter on the driving bands, was long enough to be adequately gripped by the cartridge neck (this one is 1.010" with gas check), could be crimped in the right place with the cartridge OAL at 2.200", had lots of lube capacity, had a flat nose for use in the tube magazine, and I wanted a gas check design. This will easily stabilize in the Vetterli's 1:26 twist barrel.
Its BC will not be quite that of the Berger, but at 100 and 200 yds it will not matter and it will punch nice round holes. It could also be used in the 44 Mag and 444 Marlin.
I could insert a gas check upside down in the mold in one of the driving band locations and make a variety of gas checked (near) Full Wad Cutters too!
