Figured I'd post it here cause its not exactly a post war design nor is it a real "sporting" rifle nor is it exactly a "mil-surplus" rifle as it was made post war commercially. Picked her up yesterday at the Barrie M14 Clinic after buying it from Ganderite. :D

It is my FIRST non-semi-automatic Firearm.

Very nice indeed!!! Many of those rifles were used as police 'marksman' rifles in the UK, also very similar to the L42 sniper rifle, the last Enfield to be retired from active service in the UK (in the very late 1980's  ) From what I've heard they come into their own beyond 200m and out to 800+.

They do hold better elev at long range than short due to the way they compensate. By long I mean 900 - 1000yds.Looks like it's missing the P-H 5C rear sight but you can find one of those. Also it's as much a precision rifle as any of them on this forum.

Very nice rifle!

Harkens me back to days when I owned one(should say though it was an L39). I had the Pecar scope on mine.

I also had a complete L42A1 - kinda wish I had never sold it - it was one that was built out of a LongBranch No4 T

Congrats, and shoot it!

I'll be looking to get the APJ (I think that's the short form) 4/47 sight sometime soon. Hopefully it does not cost me a arm and a leg. :)

I built a transport case for it last weekend. :)

So I went from this basic idea in my head:

To this:

Going to add one more compartment I think below the magazine of the rifle but the rifle is a good "tight" fit so it does not shake when the lid is closed. :)

Hey, you're pretty handy with woodworking! Looks like a good job, and something I wouldn't mind putting my rifle in, as a cabinet perhaps with the lid being a windowed frame (for display purposes).

Well done
