I recently bought this scope, thinking it would be an ideal grouser. I was correct. What I didn't bank on is that this scope would also be an ideal -300M deer scope as well.

I am seriously considering buying another to equip on my Savage 308 for deer season. After a jaunt up north and tinkering on the 10-22... I had some shots out to 200M+ and found this optic to be quite capable. Already set to it's .22 setting, it shined at several 300M plus targeting. I was impressed with it's 100M performance....

Close focus, awesome clarity, 4.3" eye relief and leupold warranty... what do I have to lose?

If anyone is looking for a CQB or short range scope, look no further. For deer hunting... I'll let you know what's what... & where. :D

I'm thinking of getting something like that for my tacticool 10/22. A laser would work for when it gets a little darker out if I'm going to shoot coyotes in cattle pens. It's mainly a gopher gun.

I got my new scope today. Leupold || VX-II 1-4x20mm

I am really, REALLY liking it, and I can't wait to get out and give it a whirl. I was a little iffy on the size of it, but any hesitation or waffling is immediately dissipated once you look through it. 1-4X? 1X?! "What's the point?" you might ask. Well, the 1X is not like looking pointlessly through a glass tube, everything is sharper and in focus. It's actually a pretty neat effect. I used to have a fixed 6 on this rifle, and I have found it greatly limited where I could use it. Great for the blind, not so great for the bushline or closer ranges. This rifle is by no means a carrying rifle, but this set up will greatly open up my options for where I get to park. I'll be sighting it in hopefully next week, and it will be my deer rifle again this year. I'll be sure to keep you all posted on the results.

Here are some pics!

I helped test a potential new issue rifle for work. It was scoped with a 1.5-5x Leupold with one of their tactical reticles. I had no problem shooting small groups with it off a bipod and hitting our 18" gong at 300 yards offhand. I know that's not uncannily accurate, but it does show that 10x or 15x is not needed for most sub-300 yard shooting. That 2.5x scope at 300 yards is comparable (excepting the ease of using a single focus plane and finer aimpoint) to using iron sights at 120 yards. I can tell you without any hesitation that I would shoot a deer at 120 yards with irons (because I've done it before) so why not use a low powered scope?

I had it out today and sighted it in. I am pleased. :D

While I didn't get to log any outstanding/amazing groups, it is MOA or better, and consistent. I was playing around with the 1X after I sighted in (2" high at 100), I love being able to shoot a >30M then 100M without any problems. I fine tuned with a hornady load then plinked with cheap REM ammo and rang the gong until I ran out of ammo. Deer here I come.

I got back yesterday from the most successful deer camp yet.

I am very pleased with the performance of this set up. My wife shot a deer at approx 120M, and I head shot one at approx 30M.

On one of the last light hunts I went to where they are known to come into the field (visible from a blind 175M away) and sat in the willows/grass. After sitting in the snow for about 1.5hrs(1530-1700hrs... my ass!), I was rewarded by a trio of deer that came into the field about 40M from me. I sat quietly and got a clean shot off at 30M. The pic below is linked due to it's graphic nature.

How would these scopes compare to something like the Falcon Menace 1.5-5? I'm looking for some low powered scopes for my girlfriend and I to use with Ruger 10/22's and these look slick!

I can't compare the falcons to these as I have never looked through one, but these scopes are shockingly clear. I fiddled with several weaver & bushnell 3200/4200's before choosing these. IMHO, for the money, these are the best compact scopes you can get for rimfire and centerfire rifles to 200M.

The 2.5X is outstanding, and the 1-4X far more versatile, but a tad larger.

I'm itching for an M8 or FX-II 2.5x scope to mount on the 10/22. The factory Weaver base and Weaver low rings are about as low as you can go on a carbine, and the scope is about as compact as you can get.
