Just picked this new toy up today. It's certainly an odd rifle overall. Looks like mine was made in either 45 or 46 based on the M in front of the serial. Can anyone confirm which year it is?
This one is all matching and has a good bore so I'm pretty happy with it.

I know this is an old thread but I didn't want to start a new one! I finally picked up a MAS 1936-51. Should see it in about a week. I've been considering one for a few years now but they never pop up when I have the cash......until now. I actually saw it at a dealer online a couple hours after they closed so I sent an email right away and had to wait til they opened this morning to see if they still had it. When I finally got through to the shop the guy chuckled and put me on hold for awhile. Upon returning to the phone he informed me that there were in fact 11 different emails from people saying 'I'll take it' but mine was the first and my call sealed the deal! To top it off, the price was more than decent and it was described as having the grenade attachment and being in excellent condition, all matching and having seen little use. I guess it was meant to be.

if you want to know the date on yours take the wood off the front of the gun usually its stamped on the bottom of the barrel.

I've had one for years. Paid 75 bucks for mine back in the good old days They are somewhat "different" looking but mine is quite accurate with both cast and jacketed bullets. Sights are good although ajustments for windage are made by swapping rear sight aperatures.Cases used to be an issue but can be formed from 6.5x55's. Tradex has them now. Bullets are standard 308 dia. I use 309 cast in mine. My Lee dies have worked fine. These rifles usually attract some questions at the range. Get some dies and have some fun shooting it.

I have one, very accurate. Not what I was expecting, I was after another rifle and it was a package deal. Both or none. Glad I got it.

Can it hit the broad side of a barn? I am very interested in this rifle!

I certainly wouldn't place it in the accuracy range of my K31 or my Swedish M96 but mine has perfectly acceptable accuracy for a combat rifle. The sights are very nice.

I usually shoot at about 380 yards and didn't have much trouble hitting a 1'x1' metal plate.
