So today i sat around waiting for the post lady to show up with my new toy. After what felt like forever it finally arrived. It is a lee enfield carbine, LEC made in 1899. I was rather happy with the condition of the rifle. I was given some very helpful info from colin stevens, its missing its cleaning rod, as well as the leather rear sight cover. The brass disk is marked RCA which is the Royal Canadian artillery. It retains the dust cover as well. My guess on the marks on the side of the stock is this was someones hunting rifle, I am happy with my purchase. I hope you guys like it! Feel free to let me know what information you may have on this rifle,

Mine is dated 1898 and looks pretty much the same as yours, except, someone took a grinder to the front sight ears and now they are gone.

Had it out on the range last weekend and what a sweet thing to shoot. It's going to be a lot of fun. Enjoy yours.

Congratulations, nice find, well done! Something to be proud of.

Beautiful example. She is all there. Very well kept. Nice original finish on the wood.

The sight bed screws appear to be reversed (front to back).

Interesting that it has a sling, usually they did not as they were carried in a scabbard.

Could we see a detail pic of the left and right hand barrel reinforce, please?

I am not too sure what you mean by the sight bed screws are reversed, also not too sure what you mean by hand barrel reinforce, but i can definitely post more pictures. I dont know much about it other than i knew i wanted it once i saw it!
RRco to bad theres no way of knowing!

Englishman is referring to the two screws holding the rear sight on. The front screw usually has a slightly domed head. The original rear screw would be flush with the sight base. I suspect they are both replacements. It's a pretty small point. You have a very nice carbine there - and one I would be proud to own.

I too have never seen a carbine with a rear sling swivel. It does appear to be a period correct swivel. Could you post a photo of the butt plate tang (the extension at the top)?
